Our History
Since 1983, Best Battery has proudly served Platte and Clay counties, expanding over time to cover the entire Kansas City metropolitan area. What began as a small family venture has grown into a trusted source for quality batteries at wholesale pricing.
Founded by Randy's father, Bernie Best, they began selling reconditioned batteries to local car dealerships from the basement of their home off Highway 9. The very first batteries sold for just $14.95- a price that marked the humble beginnings of Best Battery.
In August 1993, following the historic flood, Best Battery relocated to Riverside across from Red X. As the area developed, the company found its new home in North Kansas City, first at 1706 Burlington, before moving in July 2014 to its current location at 1112 Swift Street.
Today, Randy and his son, Cody, continue the family legacy—building an empire of batteries rooted in hard work, community trust, and generations of dedication.
In July 2007, Cody Best began his journey with Best Battery, starting in the warehouse and learning the business from the ground up. Over the years, he gained hands-on experience in nearly every part of the operation while working alongside Randy and preparing to carry the family business into its next generation.
Cody steadily advanced through management roles, becoming Operations Manager in 2023. His experience across the warehouse, daily operations, customer service, and business management helped prepare him for the next chapter of Best Battery.
This year, Cody has officially gained the role the owner of Best Battery and leads the business with the same commitment to fair pricing, dependable products, and personal service that customers have known for years. He continues to build on the Best family legacy while guiding the company forward for the next generation.
